So often we as Christians treat prayer to God like a good luck charm. Bringing it out only when it is convenient for us. Only when every other way has failed. It is like we have God waiting in one of the seldom used rooms of the church building. We will occasionally open the door, stick our head in, and ask Him to do something for us that we are unable to do in our own strength. This is wrong! If God is not the central theme of all that we do, from the very beginning, we are doing it all wrong! We have become nothing more than a pagan who relies on his good luck charms to bring him good fortune. Yet, during all of this, God is waiting patiently. He is waiting for us to realize that "in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing" (Rom. 7:18). Until we understand this and trust God completely from the beginning in everything, we will never do anything of worth for God. Worst of all, God will not be glorified.

The challenge to you is this: don't wait until every thing you try in your own strength fails before you ask God for his direction, wisdom, and strength in a matter. Ask for clear direction from Him to make the right decision. For wisdom to follow the right path. For strength to see it through. God wants to be honored - honor Him from start to finish!
